Boy Do I Hate Social Networking

Maybe it's a generational thing, but I really loathe Facebook
People aren't interested in connecting with friends, they just want collections of friends, most of which are strangers or marks that just want to sell something.
We're willing to give out all our personal information to strangers because for some reason we're convinced we NEED them to socialize with other people.
We don't.
Facebook needs us because they make their money selling personal information to companies that want you to buy shit you don't need.
It's makes us lazy with our outrage.
We think that in sharing or liking a post about some kind of social injustice we've actually 'done our part' , and that somehow yelling in an echo chamber is the same as protesting or lobbying.
The whole thing is a big fat waste of time. My goal is to remove myself from all of these types of networks and and spend my free time on things that matter again. If DeviantArt turns out to be the same kind of time-sink, I'll have to find a different way to showcase my art.
